Early Learning and Child Care Renfrew County

Early Literacy Kits

Book Kit 1In an effort to help support professionals working with children 0-6 years of age in promoting Early Literacy, the County of Renfrew Child Care Services Division has created over 50 Early Literacy Book Kits that are available on loan. The Book Kits will be housed at the Child Care Services office on 545 Pembroke St. West, Pembroke; those interested in borrowing one can contact our office at (613) 732-4100 or email us at childcare@countyofrenfrew.on.ca.

The Early Literacy Book Kits include a children’s book, story extension activities, story props and a laminated activity book page that includes additional extension activities and tips to encourage emergent literacy skills with the story. You could also create your own book kits with the Activity Book Pages provided below for your program. These activity book pages would be beneficial for parents to use at home to help promote Early Literacy in the home environment with reading stories, supporting emergent literacy and providing fun hands on Early Literacy activities that go with the theme of the story.
